I first met Sam when he was an instructor at JJB gym, it soon became apparent that he was a great teacher. Having taken part in a couple of half marathons I sustained an injury and didn't think i would be able to continue any distance running. After talking to Sam, he convinced me that with the right training and correct exercise, i would be able to not only run a half marathon again but beat my last time. I got Sam as a personal instructor for 1 day a week and he soon had a fitness plan tailored specifically for my requirements. Following that plan had my fitness levels increase in no time, but the plan also increased my stamina so that I had the ability to finish that half marathon in a much better time, and no where near as exhausted than ever before!
My biggest ambition in life was to run the London marathon, but never thought it possible, until I started training with Sam. Two of us shared the training; we started in November and although our fitness levels were different, each training session and plan were tailored to us individually. Some morning were tough but with his encouragement and belief in us always got us through. When things got difficult, which they did often, Sam was always at the end of a phone to answer any questions on training, nutrition, fitness and moral. He continually boosted our confidence and helped us until we knew we could do it. We ran the London Marathon on 25th April 2010 and when i say 'ran' i mean we didn't walk once! We enjoyed every mile; at mile 23 when we started to tire, all the training we had received kicked in and we powered through to the end. We would not have been able to do this without Sam. Thank you Sam! We can now say 'we are marathon runners'!

I’ve been training with Sam for just under a year now. He’s helped me lose just under 3 stone in that time. Sam also trains my older sister for marathons and my mum. I would recommend Sam to anyone. I was focusing on losing weight and without him I would not have been able to achieve that. I have never been into fitness or exercising but with Sam he was able to make all this fun! I would never have thought that that would have been possible. He makes things really easy to understand by giving you a personal plan of what to do each week.
I continue to see Sam as now he’s helped me achieve my ideal weight we are now focusing on keeping my fitness up. Sam has been an amazing fitness instructor and is a really good motivator!

Sam is very enthusiastic about what he does and this motivates you to work harder. I have Sam to keep my fitness levels up and to motivate me. We are always doing something new and he will send you a plan so that you can work out from home on your own. Me, my mum and my sister see Sam on a regular basis and we all agree we wouldn’t be without him!
I ran the 2009 Bristol Half Marathon and Sam trained me for this. I hoped to run it in under 2 hours and with Sam’s help I ran it 1hr 51mins! I’m running again in this year’s Half Marathon and Sam is already training me up for this! I hope to knock 5-10mins off my time and I know with Sam’s expertise I can definitely do this (as long as I follow instructions!).
If you are looking to lose weight, or just to keep your fitness up, Sam is absolutely perfect for you. I cannot recommend him enough!!

I've been training with Sam since March 2007, and have noticed that my fitness levels have increased ten fold,when i started i could hardly walk on the treadmill now im running for 30 mins, without stopping!! He takes you out of your comfort zone: I would still be walking if id been doing it on my own!! He also motivates you and takes the time to explain - with diagrams - any questions you ask.
I prefer this so much beter than going to the gym because he sets you realistic targets each session, which means you have to do them because he can tell through your fitness if you have achieved them.

As a typical office worker I have never done much exercise, and I guess as time has passed, and I have got older I actually became a little afraid of exercise and particularly my inability to actually do any!!
Having stopped smoking in January of this year and subsequently over the ensuing months gaining a stone in weight I knew I had to do something differently and make some changes to my life - but that would also fit in with my lifestyle................I like a nice glass or red wine or two and in no way wanted to go without.
So, I enlisted the help of Sam, and corny though this may sound, since then he has changed my life.
Not just in terms of weight and fitness levels ( I have now lost 10lbs and can run 5 miles) but also my confidence has increased, as have my energy levels.
Sam's sessions are always fun and different. He has a great sense of humour too, which is really important to me , so the time passes really quickly. He is also very good at standing his ground when I try all manner of different tactic's to wheedle my way out of doing things once they become challenging , which, I always really appreciate at the end of the sessions because I feel so good.
I never thought I would be someone who said they genuinely now enjoy exercise and I really look forward to my time with Sam. I have now taken the big step of entering the bath half marathon, I’m looking forward to what Sam has planned for me.
Be warned he could talk the hind legs off a Donkey!................................

I’ve been training with Sam for about 3 years now, when I started I wanted to loose weight and increase muscle tone. I used to go to a gym every now and again with friends thinking I was doing my bit. When I joined up with Sam’s fitness I realised just how much of the exercises I was originally doing were wrong. Sam taught me not only how to exercise right, but also what exercises to do to reach my goals. I was also worried to begin with about how I was able to fit the training sessions in. Sam managed to arrange training sessions around my life-style. I began to loose weight and developed muscle tone which allowed me to gain confidence and I have never looked back. I have noticed that I have become much fitter and even enjoy running now which I found hard to believe. Sam not only motivates me but provides a fun and challenging workout explaining in dept what exercise does what and mixes up each session every time. I’ve would highly recommend Sam’s Fitness because he really devotes himself to helping you achieve your goals and has excellent knowledge of fitness.

I am 68 years old and just over a year ago decided to do something to help Scope, the charity which helps people suffering from cerebral palsy, and at the same time try and improve my fitness. I enrolled for a challenge to take place in July 2007, to trek across the Mount Hekla area of Iceland for six days together with 27 others in order to raise funds for Scope.
At the same time I was fortunate to be introduced to Sam who kindly agreed to train me for the occasion. The programme Sam prepared for me rapidly improved my fitness and he made the workouts great fun but at the same time his tuition was very professional. By July I was ready for my ordeal and completed the challenge raising £4650 from my sponsors for Scope. I could not have done the trek without Sam's training for which I am very grateful. Sam besides being my trainer is now also my good friend and he is still doing a great job keeping me fit.

Sam is extremely good at looking at what areas I want to work at and coming up with a fun session to incorporate this. Sam has helped my fitness increase and also I have noticed how my body has changed.
